RACHEL TESSER, MD
Dr. Rachel Tesser is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She completed two separate advanced fellowships in adult anterior segment disease and pediatric eye disease. She practices comprehensive ophthalmology which includes diagnosing and treating various eye diseases as well as providing routine eye care for people with glasses and contact lenses.
In 2009, she founded Triangle Ophthalmology, a practice dedicated to caring for patients in an accessible and personal environment. Dr Tesser values the benefits that continuity of care affords both the physician and the patient and seeks to develop lifelong relationships with her patients.
Biographical Sketch
Dr. Tesser was born in Athens, Georgia. She stayed in her hometown for college where she received her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Georgia and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa academic society. She then completed her medical training and internship at Medical College of Georgia where she received the Puryear Academic Scholarship and was invited into Alpha Omega Alpha (the medical honor society for excellence in academic and clinical medicine).
She then went on to the nationally renowned ophthalmology department at University of Wisconsin in Madison for residency. After this, she completed a fellowship of cornea and refractive surgery at the University of Wisconsin. She then moved to the Chapel Hill area to complete a second fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the prestigious Duke Eye Center. While in training she published several scientific studies in medical journals and was contributing author to a pediatric ophthalmology textbook.
Outside of work, Dr. Tesser enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, two sons, and their dog. She enjoys being active and adventurous. She loves hiking, spending time in her garden and cooking creatively.
